The Forum is built around substantive feedback rather than passive conference presentation.

Academics and practitioners test the argument, evidence, framing and implications of the research. Open questions and discussion then give presenters the chance to defend, clarify and develop their work.

Research is presented in English or Mandarin. Questions and discussion can take place in either language, regardless of the language of presentation.

Presenters include BA, MA and PhD researchers working on China and the wider Sinosphere across a range of disciplines.

Universities can host Forums, recommend researchers and contribute academic expertise. Policy, business and other professional organisations can contribute practitioners, applied perspectives and expert feedback.

This mix is central to the Forum: researchers encounter questions from beyond their own discipline, while institutions gain direct exposure to emerging China research and expertise.
